The AMARU 5.0 project offers Latin American HEI partners a vital opportunity to address gaps in digital transformation and green skills, preparing students and industry professionals for the region’s economic and sustainable development. By adopting advanced tools, technologies, and methodologies aligned with labor market needs and SDGs, HEIs ensure their programs remain relevant and competitive. The project includes the creation of a Learning Factory, providing hands-on training to bridge theory and practice. Additionally, it fosters collaboration among HEI partners and regional stakeholders, promoting knowledge exchange and innovation to enhance education and drive long-term regional progress.

The overall objective of the AMARU 5.0 Project is set as the following:

• Contributing to innovation/modernization in HEIs and sustainable growth and jobs in Latin America’s companies/SMEs through twin/dual transition skills in engineering (digital and green skills according to Industry 5.0) as well as the establishment of a new Latin America Learning Factory Network (LALFN) with 7 Learning Factory labs at the end of the project.

The specific AMARU 5.0 project objectives are set as the following and have both a direct as well as a more long-term oriented indirect impact on the Region 10.

• Specific Objective 1: Introducing modern and innovative learning and teaching methods. Direct impact: Learning Factories (T4.4). Indirect impact: Modernization of HEI infrastructures.

• Specific Objective 2: Improving the quality of engineering education in Latin America. Direct impact: Hands-on and problem based (or collaborative-based) learning (T3:1). Indirect impact: Increase of attractiveness for students (also in remote areas).

• Specific Objective 3: Strengthen collaboration of universities with Industry SMEs. Direct impact: Lifelong Learning trainings (re-/upskilling of workforce) (75.4). Indirect impact: Further collaboration through joint R&D projects.

• Specific Objective 4: Improving digital as well as green skills of HEI teachers and learners. Direct impact: Trainings for students. Teachers and LLL (T4.3/T5.1-5.3). Indirect impact: Reduce the mismatch of needed competencies.

• Specific Objective 5: Accelerate the twin transition in Latin America fighting climate change around the world. Direct impact: Growth strategy of the LAFN network (T2.4/T7.3). Indirect impact: Creating new and attractive jobs sustainable growth of the economy.
